Preparing for a Summer at Home

The weather is starting to improve, and summer is very much on its way. But, while we’re all looking forward to better weather, this summer might be a little different. We don’t know yet whether we’ll be able to go on vacations in other countries, or even if we’ll get days on the beach closer to home. You might be able to visit parks and other outdoor spaces with members of your own household, but will you be able to meet with friends and more distant family members? A walk might be possible, but will you be able to eat in your favorite restaurant?

Many places, all over the world, are taking tentative steps towards normal life, or at least a new normal out of lockdown. But, it’s probably safe to say that many of the restrictions will still be in place for the next few months, some places that you love may remain closed, and social distancing will remain part of our lives for the foreseeable future.

You may also be choosing to stay at home as much as you can, even as the world opens up around you. If you are in a higher risk group, or just concerned that the infection numbers are still quite high, you may decide to protect yourself by staying home.

Fortunately, staying home doesn’t mean that you can’t have a great summer. Below is a look at some of the things that you can start doing to prepare for your summer at home.

Stock Up On Sun-Screen

You may not be traveling abroad this year, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get sunburn or skin damage from too much direct sunlight. Stock up on sunscreen for those long days in the garden.

Invest in a Good Bug Repeller

As it starts to warm up, we start to see more bugs and insects. Some of which can bite or cause other reactions. Others are just annoying. Look at The 3 Best Mosquito Killers to protect yourself from bug bites this summer.

Invest in Your Garden

You might be spending less money on fuel and days out, so could you afford to invest a little of it in your garden? If so, treat yourself to some comfortable furniture, a BBQ, and if you’ve got kids, some cool outdoor toys to keep them entertained.

Book Some Time off Work

Whether you are working remotely, or still going into the office, you may still be able to book a holiday. Take some time off, even if you don’t use it to go anywhere, and enjoy resting at home.

Go Online Clothes Shopping

Most online clothes stores are still open and delivering. If you need some new summer clothes, shop online to make staying at home more comfortable and more stylish.

Make Some Fun Plans

Plan some fun days. Schedule BBQs or garden picnics. Plan socially distant gatherings or group video calls. Plans will help to keep your mood up as lockdown drags on.

Do you have any fun plans for your lockdown summer? Or are you looking forward to getting back out into the big wide world?
