It can be difficult to learn about history in a stuffy classroom while reading from a boring textbook. Historical reenactments are a fun way to engage with history that provide opportunities to interact in a hands-on way. Reenactments don't have to be completely accurate, but certain aspects can help to set the mood for your event. There are a few things that you may want to keep in mind as you plan your reenactment.
Costumes
Apparel is perhaps one of the most important parts of a historical reenactment. Otherwise, the entire flow of your performance could easily be thrown off. Be sure to do research into what weapons would have been used at the time and area of your reenactment.
Accents
A historical reenactment where the British spoke in Southern United States accents would be unforgettable, but maybe not in the way you want. Making sure that your actors are trained in the correct dialect for the time period and location that they are representing can make sure that your reenactment is as true to life as possible.
Reenactments involve a great deal of research into the tools and mannerisms of the time and place that you are covering. Bearing these things in mind, your reenactment is sure to be a success.
