3 New Things to Try During the Coronavirus Lockdown

The coronavirus pandemic has created an uncertain, and at times, unnerving situation for many people. If your job doesn’t fall into the “essential” category, then you have likely been stuck at home for a while. Moreover, with school being closed for the time being, you and your kids might be wondering just how much more Netflix you can really watch.

Instead of sitting down for another hour of television, why not take the opportunity that lockdown has presented to try something new? Even though your options for fun family activities might be a bit limited by shelter-in-place restrictions, there are still a number of new things that you can all try while at home together.

1. Family Friendly Workouts

Along with all your other coronavirus essentials, make sure to invest in some new active wear for the whole family. Instead of letting your kids veg out all day on the sofas, try getting everyone up and moving with a fun daily family workout. This is something you can all do together that can end up being the highlight of your day.

Depending on how old your kids are, your workout might just simply be a fun dance party in the living room. There are also a variety of really great online videos available as most fitness instructors and health gurus have taken to social media during this time to create some awesome content that can keep everyone moving. Older kids might enjoy a bit more of a challenge, so you might consider setting some running goals to see who can rise to the occasion and start setting some family records.

2. Take a Cooking Class

If you have always wanted to learn how to cook like a pro, but have never had the time before, now is your chance. You can download cooking classes online during the coronavirus quarantine and learn how to cook with some top chefs. Some of your favorite television personalities have taken this time to put together step-by-step tutorials of their favorite recipes so that you can follow along and learn to make them yourself right at home.

Why not start with something that the whole family will love, like Joanna Gaines’s chocolate chip cookie recipe? Many well-known restaurants have also been posting some of their top recipes for people to make at home while going out to eat is off the table. You might need to add in an extra workout to compensate, but it’ll be well worth it!

3. Stargaze

One of the results of lockdown measures has been a serious reduction in air pollution that is generally caused by cars. Because of this, you might not ever have such a great opportunity again to stargaze from your own backyard. With clearer skies, you can catch a glimpse of some of the constellations or other heavenly bodies that you would have otherwise had to drive outside of city limits to see. Get a few blankets and some snacks set up for your night under the stars.
