Book Review: On the Bridge (a novel)
I found this book to be very interesting. A 15-year-old boy and his parents have to pull over when the tire pops on their car while crossing a bridge. Then they see a well-dressed man pull over in front of them in a nice sports car. Just like that, the man took his own life in a horrible way and of course the boy and his parents are affected profoundly by this act they witnessed.
Using flashbacks, this story dives into the complexities of marriage, family and parenting ... and what happens when something that was barely hanging on in the first place is rocked to its core.
This is a well-written book and is an original story that takes turns you weren't expecting. The characters are developed very well ... I found myself sympathizing with Douglas and his mother and wanting to punch his father in the throat!
If you are looking for a book that will keep you on your toes and that will stay in your mind after you finish it, here's your book!
