So last weekend I went around the house singing "Date Night With Myself" to the tune of Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself." I found out Friday night that Aron would not be home for our Saturday night date. Our friend was having a 40th birthday bash at a pub, and we were excited to go. I already had a sitter, had money to pay the sitter (thank God for Jordan!), and I knew I had to get out of the house anyway. Sam will be 3 in October and is more and more fine without me. I am the kind of mother that HATES this, but I will be strong and move on and try to go out without my kids. Besides, they love when I leave because, for instance, Saturday night they got Pizza Hut pizza, soda, gum and Snickers. And they have fun with Jordan. Teens always have more energy than parents!
My mom said it sounded depressing to be going to an event by myself. I usually LOVE to go alone to, say, Starbuck's to work on writing stuff, but going to a place where I really only knew three people was intimidating. Alas, this half recluse/half social butterfly forged on.

So I had one weak, small drink. Had some food. Had a KK coffee which I smuggled back into the pub. Then I socialized for another hour and went home. I missed Aron the entire time. I missed the kids. But I had fun anyway, all dressed up like a Robert Palmer video. I did kiss myself at the end of the night and I did sleep with myself. I was a sure thing.
