In honor of my mother's 61st birthday (Jeez, she only looks 50!), I have to honor her frugal spirit. I remember when Kaepa tennis shoes were popular and I wanted them SO BADLY. The problem was they cost $50. I know, these days tennis shoes cost several times that, but back in 1983 that was a lot of cash.
So I did not get those shoes when they were popular in 1983. I got them in 1984 when they were out of fashion and when my parents could afford them.
And I FREAKING LOVED THOSE SHOES. I wore those shoes until I wore holes in them. I wore those shoes until I was in my twenties. I miss those shoes. I appreciated those shoes.
So the moral of the story is ... if you are dying to make a purchase ... WAIT! Impulse purchases will get your butt in debt, friends!
Happy Birthday, Mom! You rock!
