Old Picture Tuesday … Honeymoon
So this is us 10+ years ago in San Diego getting ready to board a nice ship for dinner.
I mostly took care of the wedding (cost and painful details), while Aron took care of the honeymoon. We flew to San Diego 2 days after our wedding, on a Monday, and stayed a week. Fresh off the plane, we rented a red Mustang convertible. By the time I’m ready for a convertible again, it’ll be perfect because the wind can blow all the wrinkles out of my 70-year-old face.
First stop was the Pacific Terrace Hotel, where we fell asleep listening to the nice, loud ocean. We rode the trolley, toured Hotel del Coronado, lay on the beach, went to the Zoo (I saw my first meerkat there), ate lots of meals where we had real conversations (I don’t remember the last time we did that!). I wore sunglasses because I wore contacts (another painful detail). We even walked on the beach where one day we would return with our FOUR kids. Who knew? We coasted into Mexico on gas fumes and thank God I knew the Spanish words for “left” and “right” or we never would’ve found a gas station when I asked for directions. We ate lunch in Ensenada.
A few days later, we drove up to stay at the Inn at Laguna Beach, listening to disco and the Goo Goo Dolls the whole way. One day we went to Disneyland and wore ourselves out.
We didn’t need tons of alcohol or partying or shopping or planning. We just did whatever we felt like each day and took lots of pictures. If we ever take a 2nd honeymoon, I imagine we’ll do more of the same, only in Europe!
